Our Team

The Howard Gilman Institute for Heart Valve Disease team is made up of top cardiologists, surgeons, researchers, as well as anesthesiologists and radiology/nuclear medicine professionals — whose input is essential for patient evaluations and research.

The cardiovascular team is headed by Dr. Jeffrey S. Borer, Chief of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He is also a founder and president of the Heart Valve Society of America.

The surgical team is headed by Dr. Wilson O. Ko, Chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.
